One notable speaker will be Dr Stephen Shore, a Professor of Special Education as well as being diagnosed with Autism. Please take note that Stephen will also be presenting at the pre-conference workshop on 16 July 2011. Please see here for a video of Stephen presenting on Autism. If not for the fact that it is well known he has Autism, I would never ever guess that he is on the spectrum. If I were not able to recover my children fully, he gives hope to a better future for my children. With or without autism. For Stephen has shown us how far our children can grow, regardless of diagnosis and labels.
Other speakers include self-advocates not just on the autism spectrum, but also Down’s Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and other learning disorders. For more information on the speakers, please refer to http://serimengasih.org/icidd-2011/speakers/
Thank you to the joint organizers for their efforts in empowering persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Here’s to Growing With Hope and Dignity.
