I love Epsom salt baths, also known as magnesium sulfate. Apart from supporting the sulphation pathway and assisting in detox, Epsom salt baths are very calming and provide an excellent source of magnesium to the body. Children with autism are commonly associated with low magnesium levels. My daughters and I all need extra magnesium, so apart from supplementing with oral Magnesium Glycinate, we also do Epsom salt baths daily. I usually dissolve 1/2 to 1 cup of Epsom salts and add it to a warm bath. I also love to add a few drops of therapeutic-grade Lavender essential oil, for added calming benefits. As you can imagine, I go through A LOT of Epsom salts, thus I buy 25kg bags at a time. That’s 55 pounds of lovely, healing salts!
Why Epsom Salt Baths?
“The magnesium and sulfate in the salts are absorbed into the body through the skin. Because the sulfur is already in the sulfate form, it does not need to be converted like other forms of sulfur do. Sulfate is thought to circulate in the body up to about nine hours. Any Epsom salts left on the skin may continue to be absorbed as long as it is still on the skin, offering continuous ‘timed-released’ input into the bloodstream – like medications given through skin patches. Many people on a typical ‘modern’ processed diet are very deficient in magnesium as well, which Epsom salts also supply in a highly available form. Main effects of insufficient magnesium are hyperness, irritability, anxiety, and muscle twitching or spasms. So the salts may provide two-way assistance.” ~ Karen Defelice, Enzyme Stuff.com Looking for an Epsom salt distributor in Malaysia? Lots of people ask me where do I buy my 25kg bags of Epsom salts. Please see below for my favourite picks;
Newage.my
RM120 for 25kg, they do not deliver, have to self-pickup. They are not able to repackage it into smaller bags like Matahari does. Depends on stock availability. Sometimes I had to wait nearly 2 months. Their Epsom salt looks like crystals, this is the same as the Esential epsom salts in the dark blue boxes you see at pharmacies in Malaysia, this is also their product. Please contact their manager Lisa, she is very helpful. And a big shout out to her colleague Jaynie, who actually drove all the way to my house to deliver the Epsom salts to me personally! Now THAT’S what I call customer service! Lisa Leong lisaleong@newage.my 03-55428483
Matahari Organic
RM258 for 25kg, they provide delivery for RM10. Service and delivery is very fast, within 1-2 days. They will repack into smaller bags eg. 5kg bags upon request. Their Epsom salts look more like salt rather than crystals. Please contact Mr Choo 016-2858084, say that you’re a parent of a special needs child in order to get the price. I usually request for a special price and ask that they extend the same price to all my friends with special needs kids too. Spread the love! Hi. Just wondering if there’s any difference in the Epsom salt from Matahari and Newage?
Some of the sources are from India (which I’m in the process of learning, they are technical epsom salt – manufactured and non natural). Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!
I wonder why the Newage sell it at very low price compared to Matahari Organic. Is there any grade difference between the two? Which one is better?
The Price has gone up RM 120
RM90 for 25kg vs RM258 for the same 25kg, what’s the difference then? mind to share?
Hi Chong, The Epsom Salt by Matahari is food grade, thus the higher price. If you are using Epsom salts for baths, any magnesium sulfate is fine, even the non-food grade. I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Marissa
